Why the Philippines behaves differently from its neighbours

Two things separate this market from Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia, and both change what an AI host is for.

The sellers are small. The overwhelming majority of local sellers on the dominant platform are micro and small businesses rather than brands with a marketing department. That means there is usually no host to replace — there is one person who runs the shop, packs the orders and goes live, and the hours they cannot be on camera are simply hours the channel is dark. The argument here is not "cheaper than your host". It is "your channel is live while you sleep".

The language that sells is a mixture. Filipino sellers do not stream in formal English, and they often do not stream in pure Tagalog either. The register that builds rapport is the everyday mix of Tagalog and English, with regional languages mattering outside Metro Manila. A host that speaks textbook English is not neutral in this market — it is foreign, and it reads that way to the audience.
